Gdy się Chrystus rodzi, p/e

Gdy się Chrystus rodzi i na świat przychodzi,
Ciemna noc w jasnościach promienistych brodzi.
Aniołowie się radują,
Pod niebiosa wyśpiewują:

Gloria, gloria, gloria, in exelsis Deo.

Mówią do pasterzy, którzy trzód swych strzegli,
Aby do Betlejem czym prędzej pobiegli,
Bo się narodził Zbawiciel,
Wszego świata Odkupiciel.

Gloria, gloria, gloria, in exelsis Deo.

“O niebieskie Duchy i posłowie nieba,
Powiedzcież wyraźniej, co nam czynić trzeba;
Bo my nic nie pojmujemy,
Ledwo od strachu żyjemy”.

Gloria, gloria, gloria, in exelsis Deo.

“Idźcież do Betlejem, gdzie Dziecię zrodzone.
W pieluszki powite, w żłobie położone:
Oddajcie Mu pokłon Boski
On osłodzi wasze troski”.

Gloria, gloria, gloria, in exelsis Deo.

A gdy pastuszkowie wszystko zrozumieli,
Zaraz do Betlejem spieszno pobieżeli.
I zupełnie tak zastali,
Jak anieli im zeznali.

Gloria, gloria, gloria, in exelsis Deo.

A stanąwszy w miejscu pełni zdumienia,
Iż się Bóg tak zniżył do swego stworzenia,
Padli przed Nim na kolana
I uczcili swego Pana.

Gloria, gloria, gloria, in exelsis Deo.

Wreszcie kiedy pokłon Panu już oddali,
Z wielką wesołością do swych trzód wracali,
Że się stali być godnymi
Boga widzieć na tej ziemi.

Gloria, gloria, gloria, in exelsis Deo.

ks. Michał Mioduszewski, Śpiewnik kościelny, Kraków 1838

0142-2. To the Earth this Evening

To the earth this evening, comes our Lord and Savior.
In the midnight stillness, rays of light are beaming.
Choirs of angels all rejoicing,
To our God their praises voicing:

Gloria, gloria, gloria in excelsis Deo!

Shepherds hear this message: "God now lives among us.
Go you to the city, find the lowly stable.
You will find Him in a manger,
Christ our Savior, Lord and Maker".

Gloria, gloria, gloria in excelsis Deo!

English translation: Rev. Czesław M. Krysa

0142-3. When The Christ was born

When the Christ our Savior to the world was born,
In the midnight darkness a wondrous star had shone.
Blessed angels then were singing gaily were their voices ringing:

Gloria, Gloria, Gloria in excelsis Deo!

Oh, ye watchful shepherds, Christ to you is born
Hasten now to Bethlehem, on this Christmas morn
Angel hosts are thus repeating, for the Savior they are greeting:

Gloria, Gloria, Gloria in excelsis Deo!

Tell us, Holy Spirits, heralds from above,
What are we to do — for this Babe of love?
For we understand not clearly, though we wish to love Him dearly.

Gloria, Gloria, Gloria in excelsis Deo!

English translation: Felician Sisters

0142-4. Christ, the King is Born

Christ, the King is born, on an early morn,
Radiant glows the dark night, skies aflame with bright light.
All the angels are rejoicing heavenly music, they are voicing:

Gloria, Gloria, Gloria in excelsis Deo!

Angels told the shepherds, keeping watch o’er their herds,
“Follow ye the bright star, Bethlehem is not far,
For the Savior there is born, to the world this early morn:

Gloria, Gloria, Gloria in excelsis Deo!

English translation: Cecily Kowalewska Helgesen

0142-5. Radiance Filled the Heavens

Radiance filled the Heavens at the time appointed,
When the Virgin Mary brought forth God's anointed.
Angels from above rejoicing,
Sang in praise their tidings, voicing:

Gloria, gloria, gloria, In excelsis Deo!

One said to the shepherds, who their flocks were keeping,
"Hasten to the city! There you'll find Him sleeping:
Word made flesh, this world's Redeemer,
God incarnate, mankind's Savior!"

Gloria, gloria, gloria, In excelsis Deo!

Understanding fails us, messengers of glory;
We are filled with trembling as we hear your story.
Speak once more, your cause forth bringing,
That we may go forward singing:

Gloria, gloria, gloria, In excelsis Deo!

English translation: Polish National Catholic Hymnal

When Christ is born

When Christ is born and enters the world,
Dark night turns into radiant brilliance.
Angels rejoice,
Crying out under the heavens,

"Gloria, gloria, gloria in excelsis Deo!"

They tell the shepherds, who were keeping watch over their flocks,
That they should run straight to Bethlehem,
For the Savior is born,
The Redeemer of the whole world.

"Gloria, gloria, gloria in excelsis Deo!"
