Wśród nocnej ciszy, p/e

Wśród nocnej ciszy głos się rozchodzi
Wstańcie pasterze, Bóg się wam rodzi!
Czym prędzej się wybierajcie,
Do Betlejem pośpieszajcie, przywitać Pana.

Poszli, znaleźli Dzieciątko w żłobie,
Z wszystkimi znaki, danymi sobie.
Jako Bogu cześć Mu dali,
A witając zawołali, z wielkiej radości.

“Ach witaj, Zbawco z dawna żądany,
Tyle tysięcy lat wyglądany!
Na Ciebie króle, Prorocy,
Czekali, a Tyś tej nocy, nam się objawił”.

I my czekamy na Ciebie Pana,
A skoro przyjdziesz na głos kapłana.
Padniemy na twarz przed Tobą,
Wierząc, żeś jest pod osłoną, chleba i wina.

ks. Michał Mioduszewski, Śpiewnik kościelny, Kraków 1838

0128-2. In midnight stillness

In midnight stillness, angel voices ring.
Arise, ye shepherds, Christ is born your King.
Flocks and vigils all forsake ye.
Into Bethlehem betake thee to adore your Lord.

Infant so lovely, in a cave they found
Laid in a manger, in coarse swaddlings bound.
Yet as God He was proclaimed
And with joy they all exclaimed to the new-born Christ:

"Hail! King and Savior, born this holy night
Prophets and sages yearned for this sweet Sight
Cross the centuries men desired.
And for ages have aspired to behold Your Might."

And now, we likewise, wait for You each morn
And on our altars You are once more born.
Faithful hearts to You we bring,
Bowing, greet our Lord and King, in the Sacred Host.

English translation: Felician Sisters

0128-3. In the Still of the Night

Angels from heaven sang a thrilling psalm,
Waking the shepherds from their drowsy calm.
Rise ye shepherds, hurry onward,
Greet the newborn Son of David, King Emmanuell.

They found the Savior with His Mother mild,
Laid in the manger, Infant Jesus Child.
Bow ye shepherds to the Christ King,
Bring to Him your humble offering, King Emmanuell.

English translation: Edmund Lukaszewski

0128-4. In the Night’s Stillness

In the night’s stillness sounds a joyful call:
“Arise, o shep¬herds, come you one and all.
Taking gifts as you are able
Hasten quickly to the stable,
Come and greet the Lord!"

Leaving their sheep they went to David's town,
And Infant Jesus in a stable found.
So they greeted God on earth,
Welcoming His humble birth,
Singing songs of joy!

Summoned together from the East and West,
Joined in Communion at each Eucharist
Once adored within a stable,
Now we kneel at the Table,
Breaking heaven's Bread.

English translation: Rev. Czesław M. Krysa

0128-5. In Midnight Silence

In the midnight silence came a voice so clear:
Rise up, o shepherds, Christ your Lord is here.
Leave your flocks, forsake your watching.
In a manger wrapped in swaddling, * You shall find the Lord."

“Twas there they found Him, there in Bethlehem,
And with thanksgiving they did worship Him,
And their hearts were filled with gladness
As they knelt before God's greatness, * Honoring their Lord."

Greetings, o Savior, long expected Word.
We, like the prophets waited for You, Lord.
Many thousand years awaited,
Looked for, sought, antici¬pated, * Lord Emmanuel.

Songs of the angels sound from heav'n on high.
Come join the chorus, praise and magnify:
"Glory, laud to God on high,
To the Lord of earth and sky, * Peace on earth below."

English translation: Polish National Catholic Hymnal
